Thank you for visiting A Different Asian American Timeline. This site is not intended to substitute for educational curriculum, but rather to enhance existing education efforts both within and beyond the formal academy. We hope it can be a helpful tool for critical thinking about our historical and present-day connections across constructed boundaries within the structures of empire.
ChangeLab would love your feedback on this website. If you end up using it somehow, please tell us how, what worked well, and what needs work. We are approaching the year of 2018 as an experimental period. We are testing this site in live settings like classrooms and in-person workshops, and collecting feedback. We will develop discussion guides and other elements to accompany this site, and plan to make those available in 2019. All feedback is welcome and valuable, including comments telling us that we just plain got something wrong. However, we do have guidelines below.
We don’t automatically publish all comments on this site.
This page is intended to be a vehicle for collecting critical feedback from people who are sincerely interested in exploring issues of race. We get that we are all in different places in understanding race relations and all of us have things to learn, so we’re okay with people pushing back and offering differing points of view as long as you want to “talk.†Shouting will get you deleted. However, criticism is welcome, and questions are totally okay, as are answers from other users.
This is not an online classroom. Please note that if you ask a question, we might not reply directly, but be assured that we will note all questions and consider them in the process of developing and refining this site.
